PRESENTATION

Cocoa crepes—so, so good—are these soft, thin pancakes that started in France but, honestly, you'll find them everywhere now. What makes these different from the classic French crepes is a touch of cocoa powder mixed right into the batter. For real, it gives the whole thing a rich, slightly sweet taste, making each bite feel really special. People love filling them with all kinds of stuff—Nutella, whipped cream, smooth custard, or even some ricotta if you’re into that. And look, it's the kind of food you serve when friends come over for brunch or when you want a snack that's more exciting than just toast.

There’s something about chocolate crepes—soft, with just the right amount of moist, ready for whatever you want to throw inside—that makes them a go-to for anyone who enjoys a bit of dessert for breakfast or a not-so-serious dessert after dinner.

Across different regions, folks get really, really creative with these easy chocolate crepes recipes. Some like them loaded with fluffy whipped cream, while others go for that chocolate-and-hazelnut combo. Makes the homemade chocolate crepes super creamy and rich. And here's the thing, even just a dusting of powdered sugar on top makes them look fancy. Pretty simple. You’ll hear about people enjoying these as a sweet brunch treat, and sometimes, they even show up at parties with a bunch of different toppings so everyone can make their own.

The cool part? These dessert crepes can go from a simple snack to something totally over the top, just by swapping out the filling or adding a drizzle of syrup. Whether you’re after the best chocolate crepes to impress your friends or just want something tasty for yourself, these crepes hit that spot where indulgent and easy meet. Can't go wrong. No matter how you fill them, it’s hard to find someone who won’t reach for seconds when a plate of these comes around. They’re not just a treat; they’re basically a celebration on a plate.

How to prepare Cocoa Crepes

To prepare cocoa crepes, break the eggs and pour them into a bowl, quickly mix with a fork 1 and add the milk 2, continuing to stir. After melting the butter, let it cool slightly and pour it into the egg and milk mixture 3, then mix again.

In a bowl, mix the flour with the unsweetened cocoa 4, then sift it into the egg and milk mixture 5. Mix with a whisk until you get a smooth, lump-free batter 6.

Cover with plastic wrap 7 and refrigerate for at least half an hour to thicken the batter. After the resting time, heat a 9-inch crepe pan and rub a piece of butter over it, removing excess with a paper towel 8 and pour in a ladle of batter 9.

Using the back of the ladle, spread the batter over the entire surface of the pan 10. Cook the crepe for a couple of minutes, then flip it 11 and continue cooking for another two minutes. Transfer the crepe to a plate and continue cooking the others until the batter is finished 12

Storage

Cocoa crepes can be stored covered with plastic wrap in the fridge for 2 to 3 days.
