Halloween Brownies

PRESENTATION

Halloween Brownies earn their texture from two specific additions: crunchy hazelnuts folded into the base and condensed milk, which pulls double duty — deepening the chocolate flavor and keeping each piece soft and dense. Once baked, the brownies are cut into cubes, then handed over to a second round of work: melted white chocolate piped into mummies, little ghosts, and spiderwebs across every surface. The whole thing comes together more easily than it appears, which makes it a reasonable project to tackle with kids before a themed party or Halloween buffet.

The decoration is the point, but the brownies don't need it to be good. The hazelnut crunch and the richness from the condensed milk are already doing their job, so what lands on the table holds up on flavor alone. The white chocolate details just make the cubes look like you spent more time than you did — and they're easy enough to customize once you have the basics down.

How to prepare Halloween Brownies

To make the Halloween brownies, first melt the dark chocolate and the butter separately and let them cool slightly. In the meantime, put the eggs and sugar in a bowl 1 and whisk until the sugar has dissolved 2, then add the condensed milk 3.

Also add the melted chocolate 4 and the melted butter 5 and mix everything well 6.

Now sift the flour 7 and the cocoa powder 8. Incorporate the dry ingredients with a whisk until fully absorbed 9.

Finally, add the coarsely chopped hazelnuts 10 and stir with a rubber spatula 11 to incorporate them evenly 12.

Pour the batter into 2 baking pans (10 1/4 x 7 7/8 in), lined with parchment paper, smoothing the surface carefully 13. Bake in a preheated conventional oven at 356°F for about 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool 14, then cut the cakes into 2 3/8-inch squares 15.

At this point melt the white chocolate for the decoration and transfer it to a parchment-paper cone: decorate the surface of the brownies as you like, drawing mummies 16, spiderwebs 17 or little ghosts. Let dry and serve your Halloween brownies 18!

Storage

Halloween brownies can be stored in the refrigerator for 2 days. You can freeze them.
