PRESENTATION

Imagine yourself on the beautiful Mediterranean coast. And picture this: hake with sparkling wine sauce. It's a favorite among locals and, honestly, so, so good. This hake recipe is perfect for those who love dishes that are both light and flavorful. The hake, a popular white fish in Italian seaside towns, is known for its delicate and moist texture. And the sauce? That's where the magic happens. Everyday veggies like carrots, onions, and potatoes join the party, perfectly complementing the sparkling wine sauce—which adds a sweet and tangy twist. Really elevates it.

A splash of leftover spumante makes the dish feel special yet incredibly simple. It's true! Some regions even get creative, adding celery or swapping out potatoes for other veggies. Which is great. The real charm lies in its simplicity—just fresh local produce, a good hake fillet, and a bit of that leftover wine. You know, the one from last night? This is one of those white fish recipes where you taste both the sea and the garden. Perfect for easy seafood dishes that suit quick weekday meals or leisurely weekend dinners.

Baking is pretty common, but some folks prefer pan-searing the hake until the skin is a bit crispy. Adds texture. Really, it is all about how you like it. To complete the meal, go for golden roasted potatoes or a fresh salad. It's what they often do along the coast. People really love how the fish with wine sauce elevates everyday ingredients into something just a bit more special—without feeling heavy. Whether you're a seafood enthusiast or just exploring new flavors, this style of baked hake offers maximum taste with simple ingredients, Italian style. It's like embracing the core of Mediterranean cooking, focusing on freshness and flavor. Bring a taste of Italy to your table with ease. Seriously good.

How to prepare Hake with Sparkling Wine

To prepare the hake with sparkling wine, first gut the fish, rinse it under running water, and cut off the fins 1. Remove the head and tail 2 and divide it into steaks 3.

Transfer the hake steaks to a dish and season them with lemon juice 4, half a teaspoon of oregano 5, a pinch of salt, and pepper. Let the fish marinate, turning it in the dressing, while you prepare the potatoes, which should be peeled and cut into regular pieces 6.

Do the same with the celery 7 and carrots 8. Finally, peel the onions and cut them in half 9. Gather all the vegetables in a bowl.

Pour half the amount of sparkling wine into a saucepan 10, add the peeled garlic clove 11, and bring to a gentle boil, then add 4 tablespoons of oil 12.

At this point, add the vegetables 13, mix well, cover with a lid, and cook over medium heat for 25 minutes. After this time, remove the vegetables with a slotted spoon and keep them warm on the serving dish, adding a pinch of salt 14. Pour the remaining sparkling wine into the saucepan with the cooking juices 15,

then transfer everything to a larger pan 16. Add the hake with its marinade 17, cover with a lid 18, and cook on low heat for 10 minutes.

Place the cooked fish steaks on the vegetables, season with the cooking juices, and flavor with the olives 19 and the remaining oregano 20. Your sparkling wine hake is ready to be served 21!

Storage

It is recommended to consume the sparkling wine hake immediately. It can be stored in the refrigerator for 1 day in an airtight container.
