Monday, October 26
Halloween is approaching, and Monday, October 26 is the perfect time to start preparing some themed treats! These Nutella and banana mummies are fragrant, delicious puff pastry treats made with ready-made puff pastry, Nutella, and banana slices. The strips of puff pastry look like mummy bandages, while two cute little chocolate eyes complete the decoration. An easy, budget-friendly idea, perfect to make with kids too for a frightfully good snack!
INGREDIENTS
INGREDIENTS:
- Puff pastry rectangular roll 1
- Nutella 3 oz (90 g)
- Bananas baby 2
- Whole milk as needed
- Brown sugar as needed
- Dark chocolate chips 12
PREPARATION
- Unroll the rectangular puff pastry on a work surface and cut out 6 rectangles measuring 4x2 inches (10x5 cm). From the leftover pastry, cut strips about 3/8 inch (1 cm) wide.
- Pipe the Nutella onto the rectangles with a pastry bag, leaving a small border free, then spread it evenly with a small spatula.
- Peel the bananas, cut them into thin slices, and arrange 3-4 on each rectangle, over the Nutella, leaving a strip free at the top.
- Brush the edges of the pastry with a little milk and arrange the strips over the filling, crossing them to recreate the mummy bandages. If necessary, trim the ends that extend beyond the edges.
- Leave a space at the top of each mummy and insert two banana slices to form the eyes. Brush the surface with milk and sprinkle with brown sugar.
- Bake in a preheated conventional oven at 392°F (200°C) for about 20 minutes, until the puff pastries are nicely golden.
- Remove the mummies from the oven and let them cool slightly for a few minutes. To finish the eyes, add a dot of Nutella on the banana slices and place a dark chocolate chip on each one. Repeat for all the mummies and serve!
THE EXTRA TIP
Want to make each mummy different from the others? Have fun customizing the little eyes! Instead of chocolate chips, you can use blueberries, raspberries, pomegranate seeds, or almonds and hazelnuts. You can also place them in slightly different positions to create funny, monstrous expressions. A little trick to make preparing them with kids even more fun!
