PRESENTATION

So, here's the thing: a smash burger recipe is like bringing the classic American burger vibes but with this really cool twist. You basically take a ball of ground beef and press it hard onto a super-hot griddle. The result? A homemade smash burger with those crispy edges and a juicy center. Really, really good stuff.

The first press seals in all that juicy goodness, while the outside gets this golden crust—thanks to the Maillard reaction, by the way. To be honest, it’s a technique that started in the United States back in the early 1900s and, I gotta say, it’s become a big hit. The magic is in that one flip. It keeps the burger moist and flavorful. Pretty simple.

The easy smash burger shines because it’s quick and tasty, with just a fast griddle press and a short cook time. And look, experimenting with smash burger toppings is half the fun. You know? A lot of folks love American cheese melting over the crispy patty. Plus, you can throw in some grilled onions, pickles, or spice it up with a zesty smash burger sauce.

There are regional variations, for sure. Some people add bacon or spicy peppers, while others go for lettuce and tomato for that bit of fresh crunch. Whatever you stack, the super-thin burger patty makes it easy to bite into. And here's the thing, finding the best smash burger recipe is all about trying different blends of ground beef or choosing the right fluffy bun to hold everything. It's all about experimenting.

Whether you're going traditional or getting creative, a homemade smash burger gives you a bit of American diner magic in every bite. It's clear why this griddle-cooked favorite is loved by so many. Whether cooking for friends or just treating yourself, the smash burger is a simple yet satisfying meal perfect for any occasion.

How to prepare Smash burger

To prepare the smash burger, first combine the ground beef and ground pork in a bowl 1, pepper 2, and knead with your hands to obtain a homogeneous mixture 3.

Cover with plastic wrap 4 and place in the refrigerator while you prepare the other ingredients for the bun; you should have everything ready so you can cook the burgers at the last minute. Cut the buns in half 5, then spread the bottom part with mayonnaise 6.

Add lettuce leaves 7 and cut the pickles into slices 8. Set aside and place an iron, cast iron, or steel pan over the heat; it should be very hot. Meanwhile, take the meat mixture, divide it into 4 portions of about 3.5 oz each, and shape them into a patty with your hands 9.

Place one patty at a time in the hot pan 10, then immediately smash it with a meat press, taking care to press very hard to flatten the meat well 11. After 60 seconds, flip the burger with a spatula 12.

Let the other side cook for a maximum of a minute and a half 13, then transfer the burger to a plate 14 and proceed in the same way to cook the others. Immediately cover the burgers with sliced cheese so that it melts with the heat 15.

Now you are ready to complete the buns: stack 2 burgers with cheese on each bun 16, then add sliced pickles. Finally, close with the top of the bun that you will have spread with ketchup 17. Your fantastic smash burgers are ready to be enjoyed 18!
