Italian New York, Ranked and Curated

GialloZafferano Italian Spots: New York City

New York doesn’t simply import Italian food. It translates it.

Cuisines arrive carrying memories, traditions and a sense of place, then encounter new ingredients, communities and ways of eating. Italian food in New York is no exception, and the result is one of the most layered, diverse and constantly evolving food scenes in the world.

GialloZafferano Italian Spots: New York City is the guide to navigating it. Curated for food lovers, frequent visitors, and anyone who wants to eat well and eat Italian in the city, it brings together the best Italian restaurants alongside bakeries, cafés, gelaterias, aperitivo bars and specialty food stores, all connected by their contribution to the way New Yorkers experience Italian food today.

The Ranking

At the heart of the guide is a data-driven ranking built on a proprietary algorithm that gathers and harmonizes evaluations from 15 authoritative sources, including Michelin, The New York Times, Gambero Rosso, The Infatuation and Eater. Sources are weighted according to their history, reach and methodology, producing a transparent, merit-based selection that goes beyond personal taste.

Leading the ranking: Via Carota, the West Village trattoria by Rita Sodi and Jody Williams. Followed by Rezdôra, Stefano Secchi’s Emilian kitchen in Flatiron, and Torrisi, in the historic Puck Building in Nolita. Among pizzerias, Una Pizza Napoletana by Anthony Mangieri takes the top spot.

The Digital Platform

On italianspots.yummy4recipes.com, the full ranking is searchable by neighborhood and category, with geolocation to find the nearest spot wherever you are in the city. The selection is updated continuously as new places open.

The top restaurants earn recognition through four badges: Best 10 for the highest-ranked restaurants, Best 100 for the top 100 in the city, Best Pizzerias for the finest pizza in New York, and GZ Smile for the best value Italian dining.

Alongside the restaurant ranking, GialloZafferano has selected the best Italian spots beyond the table: pastry shops, cafés, gelaterias, aperitivo bars, street food and specialty food stores, for anyone looking to experience Italian taste in all its forms across the city.

The Print Edition

The print edition is a pocket-sized guide designed to travel with you, easy to carry, browse and consult whenever you need it.
